mmm…PI

A long while ago, Dad and I were in Five Below and saw a collection of Mr. Men buttons…we alerted Mom (who was strangely at home and not with us as the time), and she ended up going to the website of the company that makes the buttons (as well as magnets and other goodies) and bought a bunch for her eBay store…I’m not quite sure how long ago she ordered them, because they just came this Monday…

Day 209 - March 10th, 2008 Don't put me in your little box, Mr. Man!

I’m not sure who it is that has the licensing for the Mr. Men characters, because there is a new Mr. Men show on Cartoon Network that has new characters and old characters that look nothing like how they did in the books…it’s a shame, since I grew up loving the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters, and I feel like whatever company is making that cartoon is violating my childhood…gross…

I went in to XPN on Tuesday to get a start on the so-called viral marketing in preparations for Y-Rock’s Modern Rock Madness (more on that a little later)…You might remember that, during my first summer at XPN, one of my jobs was to find books for the World Cafe to feature in its Summer Reading special…books are featured now and then throughout the year, and there is always an interesting assortment of books on Ellen’s desk (Ellen was an intern who trained with me and eventually replaced my old supervisor, Sarah, when she left)…I found a particularly interesting book…

Day 210 - March 11th, 2008 You know I'm no good

…I guess that does it: there’s officially a book about everything…oh, and in case you can’t see the post-it that I put on there, it says “No No No”…

Modern Rock Madness, as I have come to understand, is “The Original Ripoff of the College Basketball Tournament”…each year, Y-Rock pits 64 bands against each other over the course of 5 days, and at the end, one is crowned champion…the stakes aren’t that high on the bands’ part, but it’s a fun little diversion…apparently, there is going to be a new student working for Y-Rock, specializing in “viral marketing“…you can read more about that elsewhere, and I’m sure that AdFreak has plenty of examples…unfortunately, the student starts next week, and there was a task to do before Modern Rock Madness starts…namely, I had to post a message on the MySpace or forum of each of the 64 bands involved, imploring the fans to vote for each group in the competition…

Day 211 - March 12th, 2008

Hey you! Don't watch that, watch this!

By the end of Wednesday, I had all but a handful covered in some way…by the end of today, I got all but two…I won’t say which two, but let’s just say that some bands need to monitor their MySpaces a little more closely…

So yesterday I got my hair cut…I got a lot of it cut…colored, too!…I’ll post some better pictures in a little bit, but for now, here’s a teaser…

Day 212 - March 13th, 2008 I can only promise you won't find your way back home
