Really Gone
January 30th 2008 by E..
Sunday night’s Folk Show was a very special one…for me, at least…this was the first time that I had mixed a live studio session all by myself, without anyone to tweak things after I did a mix that sounded good to me…part of the reason was that I was the only one of the production guys with any experience using the mixing board…luckily, the guests, (the new) Beau Django, are friends of mine, and were very good about doing their soundcheck in a timely fashion…I figured that I already have many Project 365 picture of people performing in the studio, so why not a shot of their seats before they started their soundcheck?
Day 167 - January 27th, 2008
Yes, the cables are all very pretty colors, but wrap them incorrectly and I’ll be all over you like butter on a biscuit…angry butter!…you dig?
Monday I had my first Intro to Radio class…ironic, isn’t it?…the lecture part seems interesting enough (though we are supposedly going to be covering all the different things that go into running a radio station, including marketing and sales, which I have little to no interest in)…the teacher is very funny and surprisingly perky for a class that meets at 8:40 Monday mornings…the lab portion, though, makes me wonder why Temple sees it fit to put a plasma television in every corner of every lobby on Main Campus, but I will have to use patchcords and archaic recording technology for my audio production…I guess all the time I spent in XPN’s studios has spoiled me, but hopefully I’ll be able to cope…
Later that night, during Intellectual Heritage, I noticed one of the historical maps that’s on the wall…It showed how the United States was divided during the Civil War…but it didn’t say ‘Civil War’…
Day 168 - January 28th, 2008
Whenever I see ‘The War Between The States’, it reminds me of a character from The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle, where a Southern character would correct everyone (including the narrator) if they referred to the event as ‘The Civil War’…I can’t remember if it was a recurring character, or one from a single story arc, but that’s okay…
I get a call Tuesday afternoon from Mom…Dad is in the hospital…over the past few days, his cheek and ear have been rather red and swollen…turns out it’s a bacterial infection known as cellulitis (yes, there’s a picture)…my family is no stranger to the condition…my grandmother has spent weeks at a time in the hospital due to cellulitis in her legs…after a while, though, it clears up…so I packed up some stuff and went home, and Mom and I went to Abington Hospital to visit poor Josh Pincus…
Day 169 - January 29th, 2008
He seems to be doing pretty well, save for the boredom that comes as a result of lousy television…he said he doesn’t know what he would do if he didn’t go to work everyday, since television during the day is awful…
We went back over this morning…not much improvement, but the antibiotics do take a while to kick in…still, the television was lousy…as Mom and I were leaving, we found ourselves at the bank of elevators, and I was hoping that a certain one would come for us…this one, in particular:
Day 170 - January 30th, 2008
So, I didn’t really want that one to open, since we’d be totally screwed…luckily, another elevator came and we went home to do some laundry, work, and watching I Love The ’70s…ehh
Now I’m back at school and waiting for class at 7:30…oh, what a schedule I have…
As a final thought, you know those banners that they have on MySpace that say things like, “Is George W. Bush the greatest president ever? Vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ and get a free ringtone!!”?…well, I saw one the other day that blew my mind…it said something like, “Did Zac [Efron, of High School Musical] kiss Miley [Cyrus, of Hannah Montana] and break Vanessa [Hudgens, also of High School Musical]’s heart? Vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’”…is it just me, or do people over 10 really think that High School Musical and Hannah Montana are real?…Disney better thank their lucky stars that they have two of the most popular franchises in modern pop culture (and also that just about every has forgotten about Treasure Planet)…that is all.

I forget my hips
