Bonefish.

I got a call the other day from Jenn Shields, who is the director and writer of the Temple Ambler holiday show (and is a total cool cat if ever there was one)…she realized that all of the songs in the second act are very ballad-y, and wanted to know if I could learn an upbeat tune for her to place in the act to lighten things up…I thought, “Well, what lightens up a mopey act better than a song on the ukulele?”…so that’s what I’m going to do: sing “Mele Kalikimaka” and play along on the ukulele…I was talking with members of the Tin Bird Choir on the Folk Show this evening, and said that I am going to be like the multi-instrumentalist of the holiday show…should be a good time…

Today, Erin and I tried to fight off a bad case of writer’s block, but only succeeded in becoming more obsessed/impressed with the Animal Collective…she decided that I needed a “Peacebone”, um, “button” (referring to the lead single and first track of the band’s new album, Strawberry Jam)…so here’s my Animal Collective “button”:

As you might expect, the “button” didn’t even make it all the way to XPN this evening…though something makes me very happy about the fact that somewhere in Center City, there’s a Post-It that says “Peacebone!” just waiting to be found…
