You know, it really funny how a hard drive crash can make a week seem like it’s been going on forever…
To start things off, let me tell you about what I was going to tell you about when my computer took the big one…
Thanksgiving week was pretty righteous…the night before, as we have come to call it, was especially neato because it was the first time in 3 years that I had been home for our annual dessert party…those three years I had been at the Turkey Trot dansh, and we don’t need to be reminded of why I stopped that nonsense, do we?…anyway, it was great to see lots of people that I had not seen in a while, and everyone was quite happy to see me, as well…
Thanksgiving proper was Tofurkey-good, and that’s all you need to know…
Marc Broussard’s Free At Noon concert was totally awesome, even though I was extremely freaked out that morning when I got to XPN and there was nobody there…turns out it was a university holiday and people were only coming to work at XPN if they had to…even though Lynn didn’t end up coming (because obviously her health is more important to her than Marc freakin’ Broussard…I told him), Melanie showed up and it was so great to be able to talk with someone about this past summer without getting odd looks…as if I’m not used to that by now…
Sunday night on the Folk Show, Loudon Wainwright III stopped by to talk about his work on the Rogue’s Gallery collection (read as: talk about banging Maria Muldour)…and I had to fend a call from a tipsy listener (the best kind) who told us that we talk too much on our show…y’know, because Loudon Wainwright stops by all the time…
Monday night, I was typing an entry that resembled the one above, though much funnier and planned out a lot better when my computer froze…turns out my hard drive bit the big one, and the computer store I took it to was only able to recover 3GB of stuff that I really didn’t need (of course)…luckily, I got the OK from my teachers to hand stuff in after I re-typed it, and Dad has most of my pictures saved elsewhere…like anyone actually backs things up in real life…so we sent for a new hard drive, and it came, but it doesn’t have any of the drivers on it…Gateway is sending me a disc at this moment, but until then I can’t do a damn thing on the computer…it doesn’t even recognize that I have speakers…what a load…
Last night’s Folk Show was the live radio concert of The Kennedys, who were not bad…saw a bunch of people I know in attendance there, like Joel Shoulson, Michael Tiersen (who talked to me about Dylan…maybe I should have told him that I’m not that much of a Dylan guy…), and, of course, the fine folks (pun most definitely intended) from the Forksville Folk Festival…I really didn’t even need to help out all that much, since there were so many other people there running the whole thing…as this was the case, I got to see most of The Kennedys’ performance, which was not bad at all…and damn my math class tonight for conflicting with the El Vez show at WCL…damn damn damn!
That’s it, time to go and NOT BE ON MY LAPTOP…mumble grumble…

Lyric of the Time:
Just when I thought that my skies were a June July blue
One thousand umbrellas opened
Two thousand umbrellas opened
Ten thousand umbrellas opened to spoil the view
