Vegas Vacation, Part Three: “I Like Your Wallet”
The last day of eBay Live! was pretty similar to the other two…the vendors were all giving away whatever free stuff they had left, and we weren’t complaining…we got some more pins, and the eBay Shop that was set up (with eBay merchandise and collectibles) had reduced prices on some of their items…we really only had to stay until they gave away the last pin, and they did just that at a time that we could go back to our room (as I mentioned before, it took about half an hour to get from our hotel room to eBay Live!, and vice-versa) and drop our stuff off before the closing gala…
Unlike the Davy Jones performance, the musical guest for the closing gala was announced prior to the event itself…Huey Lewis and the News would be performing there…I’m still not entirely sure why they were picked, since there is no tie-in with them and eBay (at least, not as far as I know), but nevertheless, they were fairly entertaining…one of the big secrets at eBay Live! was the location of where it would be held next year…people had been speculating throughout the three days (as if they had nothing better to do)…some said Hawaii, some said Philadelphia, I said that it would be in Vegas again, so that they wouldn’t have to move all of the stuff they set up…after all that, it turns out that it is going to be in Boston…there was a very limited edition pin that was given away at the closing gala that said ‘eBay Live! Boston 2007′ with a picture of a fishing boat on it…not sure if we’ll be going to that one, but we have plenty of time to decide…
When we first got to the airport, we used a shuttle service to get to our hotel…the service also has return trips, so we had to get packed in time to make the shuttle…we didn’t have time to go to the breakfast buffet (as if we needed to do that again), so I ran up to the Krispy Kreme to get a few doughnuts…the girl behind the register said that she liked my wallet, which was interesting because I was wearing my Fez at the time (that is to say, it was interesting that it was my wallet that she commented on)…I wore my Fez pretty much every time we went out during our trip…I mean, why not?…I got a kick out of all of the people who commented on it (either to me or behind my back), and I really thought it was funny when people didn’t say anything at all, rather they just stared…Look, people, you’re staying in a freaking castle that’s connected by walkway to a giant pyramid and is across the street from a replica of New York City, and you think my hat is what’s weird?…Sweet Zombie Jesus!…but I digress…
The ride home was pretty nice…I slept a bit on the plane, and got to listen to even more albums…Now all that’s in store is a summer at XPN (not that I’m complaining), and then Disneyland and Bats Day in August…after that’s it’s college for me…speaking
